Rachel McAdams and Jane Fonda both attended yesterday’s Greenpeace rally in Vancouver, protesting the controversial oil-sands pipeline project and Shell Oil’s plans for offshore drilling off the coast of Alaska.
Fonda is a longtime political activist who says she’s happy to lend her celebrity to shine a light on this issue — even if it means spending some time in the slammer.
“I have a hit TV show now,”; the Grace & Frankie star told The Canadian Press. “If I get arrested it’ll bring even more attention to the issue. I hope I get arrested.”;
She added that, at age 77, jail time is nothing compared to the fate of future generations. “Committing the rest of my life is no big deal, I don’t have that much left,”; she quipped. “But my grandchildren have a lot left and I want them to be able to feel proud of me, to feel that … I did every single possible thing I could do to make their world a livable world.”;
Meanwhile, Rachel McAdams was also in attendance at the event, held at Vancouver’s Jericho Beach. The True Detective star wore a t-shirt adorned with the slogan: “Toast The Coast Before The Coast Is Toast”; as she mingled with others at the rally, happily posing for photos with fans.
