Greta Gerwig’s critically acclaimed directorial debut is getting a lot of love from the New York Film Critics Circle.

“Lady Bird” received multiple honours by critics this year, including the much-heralded Best Picture award. Furthermore, the film’s star, Saoirse Ronan, was awarded Best Actress.

Many other movies were recognized by the New York Film Critics Circle. “The Florida Project” won two awards, for Best Director (Sean Baker) and Best Supporting Actor (William Dafoe).

Best Supporting Actress honours went to Tiffany Haddish for her role in “Girls Trip” and Timothee Chalamet was presented with Best Actor for his work on “Call Me By Your Name”.

In the magical world of animated film, Disney’s “Coco” won Best Animated Feature.
