A new romantic drama starring Bella Thorne and Patrick Schwarzenegger promises to be a real tearjerker.

“Midnight Sun” stars Thorne as a 17-year-old girl suffering from a rare genetic condition, a life-threatening sensitivity to sunlight. As such, her character — Katie — has been bound to her home for most of her life.
Only venturing outdoors in the evening, Katie gets involved in a romantic relationship with her longtime crush, played by Schwarzenegger. Now Thorne’s character must balance the risks of being exposed to sunlight with the benefits of living a normal life with her soulmate.
The film’s first trailer explores the movie’s themes ahead of its Mar. 30 theatre release date.

“Midnight Sun” is based on a 2006 Japanese film of the same name. Principle photography took place in Vancouver and the movie is directed by Scott Speer, who has worked on music videos for stars like Ashley Tisdale, Jason DeRulo and Blake Shelton.
