Nelly Furtado, believe it or not, was cleaning houses with her mom before she made it in the music business and now, the Grammy winner is lighting up Toronto’s Luminato Festival celebrating 15 years in the spotlight.
Five albums later and over 40 million records sold worldwide, Nelly celebrates the 15th anniversary of her debut album Whoa, Nelly!
“It’s been a fun ride,”; she tells us. “I can’t complain. It’s been a really, really fun 15 years.”;
Her hit, “I’m Like A Bird”;, made history in 2002 as Nelly became the first female artist to take home a Grammy for her debut single since Mariah Carey.
“To me I think it sounds like it could have come out yesterday, you know? I think it’s aged well, which is always good as an artist. You always want to make music that’s timeless.”;
