Netflix has just unveiled the first look at its upcoming sci-fi series “Altered Carbon”.

Premiering Feb. 2, 2018, and based on the cyberpunk noir novel by Richard K. Morgan, the series stars Joel Kinnaman of “The Killing” and “House of Cards” as Takeshi Kovacs, the lone survivor of an elite unit of interstellar soldiers defeated in an uprising.
“Altered Carbon” is described as “an intriguing story of murder, love, sex and betrayal, set more than 300 years in the future,” and takes place in a society where death is no longer permanent and human consciousness can be digitized and swapped between bodies.
After centuries of his mind being imprisoned, Kovacs is freed by a wealthy man named Laurens Bancroft in exchange for solving a murder. The victim? Bancroft himself.

“Altered Carbon”, which was shot in Vancouver, also stars Martha Higareda as Detective Kristin Ortega, and James Purefoy as Bancroft.
