Zoe Kravitz stars in “Big Little Lies” alongside huge names such as Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon and now she’s opening up about what drew her to acting.

In the January 2018 issue of ELLE magazine, Kravitz reveals: “I said, Wait, I’m getting to work with whom? When? Women like Laura [Dern] and Nicole [Kidman] and Reese [Witherspoon], I’ve grown up watching them, and to me they’re, just untouchable.”

Adding of her “Big Little Lies” castmates, “They were so encouraging. When those women are in your corner, it gives you a little pep in your step.”

The 29-year-old also talks about being honest in the industry, which is something that, in this day and age, is arguably more important than ever.

The actress shares, “It’s good to be polite, but it’s important to be honest. There’s a difference between saying hurtful things and saying, ‘This may be a little uncomfortable, but no.’ Or ‘Please remove your hand from my lower back’ or ‘You made a weird joke. Why did you make that joke?’”

Despite Kravitz’s global success, she also admits she “didn’t grow up with television.”

Continuing, “We had a TV, but it wasn’t connected to anything except for a VCR. My mom [Lisa Bonet] would go to the video store, and I was allowed to watch one movie a weekend. I was an only child, and your imagination goes crazy. These films kind of became my friends.”

Since her first movies in the early 2000s, Kravitz has gone on to star in the likes of “Divergent” and “Mad Max: Fury Road”.

She recently spoke about the latter during an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live”, admitting she recognized Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy’s tension during their time on set.

“They didn’t get along. We were also in the desert for so long. I think everyone was tired and confused and homesick and we saw nothing but sand for six months. It’s just, you go crazy, you do,” Kravitz said.

Her hectic career shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon, with Kravitz starring alongside Johnny Depp in the upcoming “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald”.
