“The success of season one has given us a lot more freedom to dive into more topical narratives,” says Cole Sprouse, who plays Jughead Jones. “Jughead’s narrative is very much in preparation for the latter half [of the season], which is this bubbling, impending civil war between the North and the South of Riverdale.”

Lili Reinhart, who plays Betty Cooper and Jughead’s love interest, adds, “Honestly, it’s so exciting, for me, knowing what’s coming and knowing what fans are in for and literally, they have no idea what’s about to hit them.” She adds, “You think Betty is almost done being tortured and then you’re like, ‘Oh, nope! Joke’s on you!'”

Addressing the current season, Camila Mendes, who portrays Veronica Lodge, says, “Obviously we love to see Betty and Veronica as a duo together, but also I think it’s interesting to see them at their weak points and because there’s so much going on in Riverdale – always the drama – that affects their friendship.”

For Madelaine Petsch, who plays the devious Cheryl Blossom, she reveals, “You’re going to see a lighter side of Cheryl. You’re going to learn a lot more about her past and why she has that relationship with her mother. And you’re going to see a love interest.”
