Trevor Moran is a singer (he appeared in the U.S. version of “The X Factor”) and YouTube personality, who made headlines in 2015 when he came out as gay and then subsequently began identifying as transgender, starting to transition from male to female.
However, in his latest video, the 19-year-old social media personality now says that he was wrong about being transgender, admitting he was “very confused.”
“I came to the conclusion that I was transgender,” he explains in the video, above, as he discusses what he describes as his “identity crisis.”
As fans of his videos will recognize, he began wearing makeup and feminine clothing, and reveals he had scheduled appointments to begin hormone replacement therapy — and even planned to freeze his sperm for potential parenthood down the road.
“I was very confused, so I continued to grow my hair, I got wigs… I changed my whole wardrobe to all women’s clothes because I was about to transition into a woman. But that was just not the case,” he explains, admitting that he found himself rushing into the decision because he “was so lonely and very confused.”
He subsequently came to the realization that he is not transgender, and now says that he finally feels comfortable “just being Trevor,” a message he shares with his 1.4 million YouTube subscribers.
“If you are unsure about who you are, that’s completely OK… I promise that, you will find out one day, and it’s going to be amazing,” he says.
“If you are struggling right now, that is so OK,” Moran adds. “Experiment, find out what you like, and run with it. And I am so happy now to just sit here and just accept myself for just being Trevor.
