Apple Reveals Its Top Hits Of 2017 In Music, Movies, TV And More

As the end of the year approaches, Apple has revealed 2017’s top-selling movies, music, TV series, ibooks, apps and more on its platform in Canada.

On the music front, Ed Sheeran is clearly Canada’s favourite artist on Apple Music, landing in the #1 spot in the album category with “Divide” and in the top spot in the songs category as well, with “Shape of You” at #1.

“2017 was an incredible year for music,” says Beats 1 host and creative director Zane Lowe. “We’re seeing new talent find audiences faster while some of the biggest artists in the world delivered career highlights. Kendrick Lamar released many people’s album of the year, Ed Sheeran’s ‘Divide’ dominated the charts, and Atlanta continued to grow as Future and Migos set new standards and new stars like 21 Savage arrived.”

In Movies, Disney’s “Moana” took top honours, while “Game of Thrones” proved to be Canadians’ most popular TV series. Meanwhile, Instagram is Apple’s top free phone app, and the top paid app is “7 Minute Workout Challenge”.

In terms of ibooks, Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale topped the list in fiction, while the #1 fiction release of the year is Mark Manson’s The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck.
