Hunting remains a polarizing issue in North America, with some seeing it as a outdoorsy hobby while others view it as a brutal bloodsport.
Chris Pratt is apparently a fan of hunting, and let it be known while hosting an impromptu Q&A with fans on Twitter, in which he answered all manner of questions while awaiting the new “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” trailer to debut on Thursday night.
One fan asked him to name his favourite animal to hunt, sharing a photo of herself and a deer she just bagged. Pratt replied: “I like it all but it’s hard to beat a good elk hunt. Congrats on your deer!👍🏼.”
Another fan chimed in: “2017 and people still hunt? STILL?? Literally how.”
Pratt responded with a tweet (which he has since deleted) offering a brief primer on hunting. “Literally? People hunt by using modern firearm, archery or muzzle loading equipment. There’s an application process for licenses and tags which are available only during short, strictly enforced seasons. One must complete a hunter’s safety test to be eligible. I hope this helps.”
As for why the tweet was deleted, the reason likely stems from the barrage of anti-hunting tweets that followed, such as these:
However, there was also a strong contingent in the Twitterverse that supported Pratt’s stance, and blasted those who criticized him for it.
