Kelly Clarkson might be the “Original Idol,” but that doesn’t mean much at home!

ET Canada’s Sangita Patel sat down with the singer at the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball in Toronto, where she revealed that there isn’t much demand from her two young children, nor her two stepchildren, to hear her belt out their favourite holiday tunes.

She says, “The 1- and 3-year-old are so small that really, [River Rose] only knows ‘Jingle Bells’. So we kinda go over that one a lot. But she loves ‘Run Run Rudolph’. She makes me play ‘Run Run Rudolph’ from my record [2013’s ‘Wrapped In Red’]. That’s her favourite. Our 11- and 16-year-old really don’t want me to sing to them. They’re like, ‘We’re good. Can you introduce [us] to Cardi B or Post Malone?'”

She just might, since Clarkson and the “Bodak Yellow” songstress met backstage at Saturday’s show. Perhaps they discussed their Grammy nominations; Cardi’s breakout hit scored two nods, while Clarkson’s “Love So Soft” is up for Best Pop Solo Performance.

“I’m excited!” the singer gushes. “I’m excited, not just for me, but for the writers: Priscilla [Renea], Mo [McDonald], Jesse [Shatkin]. They did such a great job and really nailed what I wanted to accomplish with this album and the sound and everything, so I’m really stoked.”

While she may be hoping to add another trophy to her mantle, her daughter River Rose has an even grander request on her Christmas list!

“My 3-year-old wrote a letter to Santa with her cousin Izzy,” she says. “They’re writing letters to Santa and she asked him for mermaid boobies and [a] tail. And I was like, ‘Oh, boobies and tail, you’re like your daddy!'”
