Carly Rae Jepsen: A Not-So-Comfy Cover Girl

You’d think a multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated artist would love hamming it up for the camera.

Not so much.

Carly Rae Jepsen, Elle Canada’s covergirl for its August issue, isn’t a natural when it comes to photoshoots.

“It’s exciting to be a part of a magazine like Elle (Canada) and to be on the cover is such an honour,”; Carly tells ET Canada in an exclusive interview, “but also a little nerve-wracking because I’m not naturally comfy in front of camera.”;

But what helped put Carly at ease was the edgy wardrobe the magazine picked out for her to wear.

“It’s very leather jacket, ’80s,”; says Carly enthusiastically. “(It) matches my album in the perfect way.”;

That album would be EMOTION, which comes out August 21. Its debut single, “I Really Like You,”; marked Carly’s third Top 40 hit and its video got her huge buzz because, well, you can’t go wrong having Tom Hanks lip syncing. But Carly’s not done dreaming up big-name collaborators.

“I’m not gonna lie,”; Carly says. “We have a sax solo that happens in one of our songs. I was like, “How cool would it be to get Bill Clinton to play the sax in that?’ “
