It seems Meghan Markle is having no problem at all ingratiating herself into the royal family.
The 36-year-old actress was a guest alongside her fiance, Prince Harry, at Queen Elizabeth II’s annual staff Christmas Party at Windsor Castle, People reports. According to the outlet, the queen used the occasion to welcome Markle into the fold and introduce her to the members of her staff that she’ll need to know.
The party, attended by Queen Elizabeth, her son, Prince Andrew, and a few of her cousins, was held for several hundred guests in Windsor Castle’s Waterloo Chamber, St. George’s Hall and the Grand Reception Room, where Markle and Harry will hold their wedding reception.
Markle’s presence at the staff party comes just days after Kensington Palace confirmed that she’ll spend Christmas with the royal family at the queen’s country home, Sandringham, in Norfolk, England. The “Suits” star is the first unmarried partner to be on the guest list.
“It’s always been the case in the past that only married couples attend Christmas at Sandringham,” royal expert Katie Nicholl told ET. “She really will be a first in being a royal fiancee at Christmas dinner.”
“It’s a big deal because it’s incredibly unusual. Yes, they are engaged, but Meghan doesn’t have that all-important wedding band on her finger,” she explained. “I think that she might well be the first royal fiancee to be invited to Sandringham for Christmas. The queen has really gone above and beyond and she’s done that very simply to make Meghan feel welcome and to keep Harry happy.”
