Ed Sheeran has written the theme song for the next James Bond film… even though nobody asked him to.

Appearing on Ireland’s “The Late Late Show”, Sheeran revealed to host Ryan Tubridy that he “has a theme tune written for the past three years — just in case.”

While Sheeran declined to reveal the title of the song over fears that “someone might steal it,” he assured the host that “it was good.”

As Sheeran explained, he has a number of songs written for various scenarios, in case he receives a request to collaborate with another artist — as was the case with his recent collaboration with Eminem.

“I recently did a song with one of my all time heroes, Eminem. I already had the song planned because I thought if I ever work with Eminem,” he said.

“So it’s the same for Bond,” added Sheeran. “If ever I’m called, I’m like, right, there you go.”

During his appearance, Sheeran also opened up about some of his stranger quirks, how proud his grandfather would have been to see him awarded with am MBE and reunited with a young fan he met during an earlier Irish TV appearance. Watch:
