It’s been almost 10 years since “Mamma Mia!” hit theatres, but Universal Pictures have now finally released the first trailer for the sequel “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.”
The teaser gives fans a first look at Lily James in the lead role of Young Donna, while most of the original cast including Amanda Seyfried, Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård, Christine Baranski and Dominic Cooper also return.

While the first movie — which grossed over $600 million around the world — saw Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) searching for her dad ahead of her wedding to Sky (Dominic Cooper), the second flick takes a step back in time and follows Donna’s relationships with Sam (Pierce Brosnan), Bill (Stellan Skarsgård) and Harry (Colin Firth).
Despite the trailer following Donna’s search for love, fans were left concerned due to the clip seemingly reflecting upon her past in the memory of the character.
Social media users immediately took to Twitter in droves to have their say, with many saying they hope bosses haven’t killed off their favourite character.

One person threatened to “sue every person involved” as another questioned why they’d brought Donna’s mother, who is played by Cher and made an appearance at the end of the clip, back from the dead.
“Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” hits theatres July 20, 2018.
