It’s hard to believe it’s been nine years since Toronto native Lukas Rossi was declared the winner of the second season of Rock Star and assumed frontman duties for Supernova, a band comprised of Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted and former Guns n’ Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke. Well Supernova has since faded out but Rossi has a new light in his life: his son Bryden.

“Bryden has had the most incredible impact on me,” Rossi told us on a recent visit to Los Angeles. “He’s the best thing that could ever have happened to me, to (my wife) Kendra, he just brings light into our life.”

The singer/songwriter, who now calls Nashville home, is enjoying daddy duty, much to his own surprise! “I never thought I’d be a father,” he explained. “I was always like “heck no, dude! I’m gonna be on the road my whole life.'” But he is more than happy to incorporate play dates into his schedule of playing gigs and producing music. “I don’t fear things as much as I used to,” he said. “I know I got a little buddy who loves me to death and he knows his papa loves him to death, too.”

While Rossi has taken to fatherhood as naturally as he took to music, becoming parents to Bryden came about for him and wife Kendra in a non-traditional way. The couple adopted beautiful Bryden from a relative of Kendra who was no longer able to care for the now four-year-old boy properly. “There’s some stuff I’d like to keep private,” he offered. “But let’s just say that the life he was in before was fruitless and despicable and if I could adopt 100 kids in that same predicament, I would.”

From the outside, it may look like Rossi has rescued Bryden but the musician says it’s actually the other way around: “All the pain and the sh*t I went through in my life, he healed that.”
