The eight instalment into the cinematic “Star Wars” saga is expected to add nearly $69 million to its box office total in its second week in theatres. Three new releases this week could not withstand director Rian Johnson’s irresistible force.

“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” starring Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart placed second with an estimated $34 million, while critically panned musicals “Pitch Perfect 3” ($20.4 million) and The Greatest Showman” ($8.6 million) debuted in third and fourth respectively.

“The Last Jedi” grossed an estimated $220 million in its first week in theatres and has performed equally well domestically and in foreign markets.
