Peter Capaldi wrote a sweet letter to a nine-year-old fan called David who was worried about Capaldi’s “Doctor Who” character’s regeneration.
The 59-year-old actor, who has played the Doctor since 2013, is set to be replaced by Jodie Whittaker after bowing out of the hit sci-fi show in a Christmas Day special.
Despite the young fan worrying about Capaldi’s well-being, the actor insisted the regeneration process is “just like having a bad flu.”
David was in shock to find the letter in an extra-special envelope on Christmas Day, with his older brother Tom also receiving some words of wisdom from the star.
The message reassured the youngster that the old Doctors never really go away and that “they are always there in time and space.”
“So have a brilliant Xmas, a Happy New Year and a wonderful life – I’m sure you will,” he finished off by saying.

The lucky boys have their dad, Brian, who shared a snap on Twitter, to thank for the letters, after he had a chance encounter with former Doctor Christopher Eccleston when he was filming in Belfast.
Brian said, according to BBC News: “It was such a lovely thing for him [Capaldi] to have done, I don’t know how Santa managed to do it.
“He has taken a lot of time and effort, it is such a generous and kind thing to have done.”
