The Kardashian family is firing back at Blac Chyna, filing legal documents requesting that her lawsuit against them be thrown out of court because its underlying basis is completely — and provably — untrue.
According to court documents obtained by ET Canada, lawyers for Kris Jenner, Rob Kardashian and Kim Kardashian filed a “demurrer” disputing the allegations set forth in Chyna’s lawsuit, in which she claims the Kardashian family were responsible for the E! channel pulling the plug on “Rob & Chyna” after only one season.
“Rob Kardashian is an abuser intent on destroying Angela White, the mother of his baby, who left him in 2016,” reads Chyna’s suit, identifying the plaintiff by her legal name. “In revenge, the Kardashian-Jenner family became media predators, slut-shaming her on social media and killing her hit television show, which had already begun filming a second season.”
It’s that bit about “killing” the show, however, that the Kardashian family is contesting, pointing out that It physically impossible for filming on “Rob & Chyna” to continue — because of the restraining order that she requiest against Rob Kardashian.
“Given Plaintiff’s conduct in seeking and obtaining a restraining order that required Rob to stay away from Plaintiff and her workplace, no trier of fact could possibly find that it was reasonably probable that a second season of ‘Rob & Chyna’ would have been picked up and filmed,” states the Kardashians’ court filing.
In addition, the demurrer also points out that Chyna’s “claim for alleged interference with prospective economic advantage” is likewise inaccurate, for the same reason.
Chyna was granted a temporary restraining order against her ex – with whom she shares daughter Dream — in July, stating that “Rob has been violent with me in the past and I am afraid to be around him.”
The lawsuit was filed by Chyna in October, initially including Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner and Rob Kardashian as defendants, but subsequently amended to include only Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian and Rob Kardashian.
Chyna’s lawsuit also states that “Rob Kardashian and his powerful, vindictive family have done enough damage to Ms. White’s career and professional reputation, which she singlehandedly built from scratch — without the help of a famous last name. This lawsuit seeks to hold them accountable.”
The Kardashians’ demurrer is asking the judge to dismiss Chyna’s lawsuit, claiming that even if the allegations in her suit were true, there is no legal basis for her lawsuit in the first place.
Chyna’s attorney, however, does not agree. “We are confident that we will prevail in court,” Chyna’s attorney, Lisa Bloom, told People.
