Nick Cannon is standing by his decision to cast Chris Brown in his latest project.
After news broke that Cannon is set to helm a new film about women’s street basketball titled “She Ball”, many expressed displeasure with the casting of Chris Brown in a film about female empowerment, citing his highly publicized 2009 assault against ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

But when TMZ caught up with the entertainer recently in Los Angeles, the 37-year-old stuck to his guns.
“What about Sean Penn? They ever ask about his past?” Cannon asked the paparazzo, referencing Penn’s complicated history of alleged assault.

He continued, “It’s definitely a double standard. They wanna turn a black man into a monster anytime they can.”
