Anticipation is building for the upcoming revival of “Roseanne”, with the cast of the iconic 1990s sitcom reuniting for a brand new season, 20 years after the original ended its nine-season run in 1997.
Series star Roseanne Barr (a.k.a. Roseanne Conner) is joined by the rest of the Conner family, as cast members John Goodman, Sarah Chalke, Lecy Goranson, Sara Gilbert, and Michael Fishman sit down to chat with Entertainment Weekly for a new cover story.

If fans are finding themselves nostalgic for the “Roseanne” revival, the same is holding true for Goodman, whose character will be alive and kicking despite the revelation of Dan Conner’s death in the series finale.
“It was like we wrapped last week instead of 20 years ago,” Goodman tells EW. “The hair on my arms stands up. It’s like if I was going to put my Boy Scouts uniform on again and it still fit.”
According to exec producer Bruce Helford (who is overseeing a writers room that, along with Barr, includes the likes of comedians Whitney Cummings, Norm Macdonald and Wanda Sykes), the return of “Roseanne” will fill a void he sees within the TV landscape.

“We want everybody to see something that doesn’t really exist on TV anymore, which is an honest family,” says Helford. “There’s not much of that. Everything is higher-toned or more niche. These people are very much in the core of what’s going on in the country right now.”
While “Roseanne” shot to the top of the ratings, the show also courted controversy, thanks to Barr’s behind-the-scenes volatility, but she tells EW that she’s bringing a more mellow, new attitude to the set this time.
“I don’t want to fight no more,” Barr says. “I don’t have nothing to prove.”
“Roseanne” returns to ABC on March 27; in the meantime, you can read more with the cast in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, on sale Friday.
