Natalie Portman called attention to the lack of female directors at this year’s Golden Globes.

“Here are the all-male nominees,” she said as co-presenter Ron Howard announced the five men nominated for the Best Director award. Female directors failed to get a nomination despite high-profile films by Greta Gerwig (“Lady Bird”), Patty Jenkins (“Wonder Woman”) and Dee Rees (“Mudbound”).

Toronto resident Guillermo del Toro was announced as the winner for his fantasy romance “The Shape Of Water”. While he didn’t acknowledge Portman’s “male directors” comment, he did praise  “a few fantastic women” who worked on his film.

Portman’s diss caught the attention of several celebs, including Zoe Saldana and Sarah Silverman, who tweeted their support.
