Celebrity stylist and E! red carpet co-host Brad Goreski is breaking down his favourite looks from the 75th annual Golden Globes.

Speaking with ET Canada, the 40-year-old Canadian TV personality and fashion stylist praises the stars who, as a sign of solidarity, chose to wear black in protest of harassment in Hollywood and beyond.

With the movement also supporting #MeToo and Time’s Up, a campaign aimed at tackling issues of sexual harassment and discrimination, Goreski says, “I feel like everyone who wore black and supported Time’s Up is a winner in my eyes.”

Addressing some of the biggest trends of the night, Goreski notes that velvet was a popular theme as seen on the red carpet. “We saw a lot of velvet,” he explains. “Oprah Winfrey, Jessica Chastain, Zoe Kravitz were a few of the people in velvet.”

He adds that “menswear-inspired” elements were also popular. “Alexis Bledel in an Oscar de la Renta jumpsuit,” he recalls. “Claire Foy in Stella McCartney – who was doing a Parisian, smoking look with the slick hair and the bright red lip.”

Goreski also recalls the prevalence of sheer as seen on “Halle Berry, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Kate Hudson,” as well as a “mixture of silver and black,” as seen on Saoirse Ronan in Versace and Mary J. Blige in a custom Alberta Ferretti gown.

He continues, “The designers really rallied to make this last minute change and become part of this movement,” explaining, “I think definitely what happened is going to be inspiration for collections coming up.”
