U.S. President Donald Trump looked like he stumbled a bit at Monday’s College Football Playoff National Championship in Atlanta.
Country music group Zac Brown Band teamed up with a gospel choir to perform the national anthem, but attention quickly fell on Trump. The U.S. President had his hand over his heart, but looked as if he was struggling with the anthem’s lyrics.

“It looked like Donald Trump just kept repeating ‘applesauce’ during the National Anthem,” one Twitter user wrote.

“Trump was mouthing some words during parts of the national anthem, but it was unclear what he was saying,” said another. “He didn’t open mouth during other parts.”
Earlier the same day, Trump stated the significance of respecting the national anthem and the U.S. flag.
“We want our flag respected,” the U.S. President said — according to The Washington Post. “And we want our national anthem respected also.”
