MTV is ready to party like it’s 1989.

This year’s MTV Video Music Award nominees have been revealed and (to the surprise of absolutely no one) Taylor Swift stands tall as the frontrunner. The pop megastar leads the charge with nine nominations, including a nod for Best Video courtesy of her celeb-packed Kendrick Lamar aided “Bad Blood”; promo.

How did Taylor respond to the news? She posted a video showcasing her first day of fight training for “Bad Blood.”; (She also gave a polite thank you in the accompanying caption.)

Also pulling in robust nomination hauls: Ed Sheeran with six nods and Beyoncé notching five.

Canadian content appears to be a little light when it comes to this year’s nomination slate, but our country is being represented proudly by The Weeknd. “Earned It”; is going toe-to-toe with clips from Ed Sheeran, Kendrick Lamar, Nick Jonas and Mark Ronson in the battle for Best Male Video.

VMA veteran Miley Cyrus will be hosting this year’s ceremony which will take place in Los Angeles on August 30.
