Issa Rae has taken to Twitter to set the record straight after she was rumoured to have turned down Drake at a Golden Globes after party on Sunday night.
Rae, 33, sparked an online frenzy Thursday after sources began to speculate about Drake’s alleged love for the actress, with social media users begging the pair to get together.
However, she was quick to shoot down the claims, calling herself a “shameless fangirl” and an “obsessed fan.”
Her comments come after sources told E! News that Champagne Papi himself had invited Rae to stop by the Netflix bash he was DJing at, with him even “making his whole group stop so he could go talk to her.”
However, Rae was said to have told him “she was with all her friends,” and was like, “Thanks, but no thanks!”
A different source told the publication Drake “didn’t come on that strong,” but “did flirt a little.”
They shared, “He thinks Issa Rae is beautiful and talented. He would like to take her on date if he was given the opportunity. He talks highly of her talents to people.”
Despite the source quotes, Rae did end up at the Netflix party later that night, as referenced in her tweet, and shared a video on social media of Drake showing off his DJ skills.
She’s previously said she loves Drizzy so much that she has a Drake lyric in every episode of her HBO series “Insecure” disguised as an Easter egg.
Rae told Rolling Stone, “That was a personal thing for me, but that’s not something that we bang you over the head with.”
