After joining Global’s “The Talk” as the newest co-host in November, Eve is already making waves, going makeup-free on national TV as part of her 2018 goal.
Speaking with ET Canada just a few months into her new job, the 39-year-old Grammy-winning rapper and actress reveals what it was like to join the ladies on-air while in bathrobes and wearing no makeup.
“It’s freeing,” Eve says. “It’s been a security blanket how I use makeup. I wear it to the gym, which is really bad, and it’s a new year and it’s time to be free.”
“You don’t need makeup to be who you are,” she adds. “It’s scary, but it’s a learning process and I’m enjoying it. Me and vulnerability have not been friends classically and I’m going to embrace that.”
Julie Chen, who has been co-hosting “The Talk” since 2010, addresses the tight-knit environment, saying, “Every season we get more comfortable with what we discuss [and] how we look, so it’s very freeing.”
Praising her new co-host, Chen adds, “It’s kind of like having a new bestie.” She continues, “We haven’t had a Grammy-winning artist as one of the hosts and now we do! She brings a Grammy to the table.”
And despite Eve’s busy new job, the artist confirms she hasn’t left her love of music behind. “I’m still recording,” she says, looking towards fellow co-host Sharon Osbourne. “It’s nice to have another person, another artist at the table.”
