“Mary Kills People” star Caroline Dhavernas is celebrating her Canadian Screen Award nomination in Montreal.

Global‘s drama about an ER doctor who moonlights as an angel of death along with her partner, allowing terminally ill patients to die on their own terms, earned nine nominations including Best Dramatic Series, Lead Actor, Lead Actress and Supporting Actor.

Speaking with ET Canada, the actress says she’s thrilled with the recognition for the series, which is now in its second season.

“We’re all very proud of the show. It’s an amazing pat on the back,” Dhavernas says, citing nominations for the series, the writers and her co-stars. “I’m proud of my co-stars too. Richard Short, Greg Bryk, Steven McCarthy are all nominated.”

“I’ve been blessed on this show,” she adds. “The show is everything I wanted it to be. You can’t always say that about a project that you jump in to. I just hope that we’ll carry on.”

The Montreal-raised actress says she has two very proud fans at home – her parents.

“My dad’s going to be very proud. I know my parents love the show. My mom’s going to be very proud as well. They really watch this one. I know ‘Hannibal’ was a little harder for them to stomach, but this one they can deal with,” she laughs.

“Mary Kills People” airs Wednesdays on Global at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Watch full episodes here.
