Adam Levine can’t catch a break in the official music video for Maroon 5’s “Wait”.
The new visual for the song stars Levine and actress Alexandra Daddario as dangerous, toxic lovers.
The video begins with Levine attending Daddario’s funeral, and if that wasn’t bad enough, he finds himself getting punched in the face and landing in the coffin of his presumably deceased partner. Later on, a woman cracks him in the skull with a beer bottle, so needless to say things are not looking good for his character.
Daddario, 31, hyped up the music video on Twitter. “I love this song,” she tweeted. “So excited to be part of the video.
Levine previously released an unofficial, more stripped back video for “Wait” in January. Levine lip-synced to the song in a series of Snapchat video selfies.
All the fan favourite filters – like the hearts and cute eyes, bunny ears, and the one that makes your face look weird – were included in Levine’s original version.
In a day and age where music videos look more like Hollywood short films, viewers may feel refreshed to see content filmed entirely on an iPhone.
“Wait” is the second single from Maroon 5’s sixth studio album “Red Pill Blues”.
