Kylie Minogue is surprising fans with a brand new sound.
The 49-year-old Australian singer released her latest song, “Dancing”, last week, a catchy dance-pop track with a seriously country twist, and on Thursday she released a new video for the song.
The new song is the first taste of Minogue’s upcoming album Golden, her 14th studio album and her first since 2014.
In an interview on BBC Radio 2, Minogue talked about the influences on the upcoming album, out April 6, including her breakup from actor Joshua Sasse and that Nashville sound.
“I was a little bit fragile when I started working on this album,” Minogue said. “It was a really good time to be honest and work through everything, and give a snapshot of where I am in my life.
“A lot of it was done in Nashville, and that taught me about putting more story into the song. And then you can take that song and produce that any way you want.”
Fans on Twitter were excited about “Dancing” and Minogue’s inspired fusion of country and dance pop.
