This week’s edition of “Saturday Night Live” featured Jessica Chastain making her debut as host, and tackled the U.S. government shutdown and the dubious results of President Trump’s medical examination in the cold open.

Speaking with reporters, White House press secretary Sara Huckabee Sanders (Aidy Bryant) introduces Dr. Ronny Jackson (Beck Bennett) to explain “just how not fat the president is.”

“The president’s got a rockin’ bod,” says the doc of Trump’s physique in his “unbiased, 100-per-cent accurate” health assessment. “Given the chance I would.”

“SNL” also took some shots at “The Bachelor” with a biting parody called “Car Hunk”, in which a gaggle of desperate, unhinged women — all named Lauren — vie for the affection of a not-so-bright race car driver (Alex Moffat).

In a game show parody, Chastain hosts “What Even Matters Anymore?”, in which contestants are asked questions about the downright insane happenings that took place during President Trump’s first year in office, with Chastain’s host eventually falling into a fit of wine-chugging, wild-eyed rage.

Arguably the episode’s strangest sketch was a parody of the opening theme from “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”, in which Will (Chris Redd) runs afoul of some bad hombres. Things take a dark turn when Uncle Phil goes down in a hail of bullets during a bloody shootout and Will winds up entering the FBI’s witness protection program.

“Weekend Update” was jam-packed this week, serving up visits from porn star (and alleged Trump mistress) Stormy Daniels (played by Cecily Strong) and Robert Mueller (Kate McKinnon), who promised there would be a satisfying conclusion to the Russia investigation. “You know how you loved the show ‘Lost’, but it never really came together. There’s no satisfying ending…” said McKinnon-as-Mueller. “This ain’t ‘Lost’.”

Also joining anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che were royal siblings Prince William (Alex Moffat) and Prince Harry (Mikey Day) to deliver an official announcement regarding Trump’s cancelled trip to the U.K. until their visit devolves into chaos when Harry can’t stop making fun of William’s new buzzcut.

“Saturday Night Live” airs Saturdays at 8:30 p.m. PT/11:30 p.m. ET on Global; you can also watch full episodes online.

“SNL” returns with a new episode on Saturday, Jan. 27, with host Will Ferrell joined by musical guest Chris Stapleton.
