Paul Reiser Talks Potential ‘Mad About You’ Reboot: ‘Helen Hunt And I Met A Couple Of Times’

Paul Reiser may be a 2018 Screen Actors Guild Award nominee as part of the ensemble cast of “Stranger Things”, but it’s his 1990s sitcom “Mad About You ” that has fans talking. ET Canada’s Cheryl Hickey got to the bottom of those reboot rumours on the red carpet.

“I played the guy,” he jokes. “There was a guy, a girl and a dog. I was there.”

The original comedy series ran from 1992 to 1999 and featured Reiser and Helen Hunt as a married couple in New York City.

With the return of Global’s “Will & Grace” and a reboot of “Roseanne” happening, fans want to know is they’ll see Paul and Jamie Buchman return to the small screen.

“People have been talking about it and it’s in the air,” Reiser tells Cheryl. “Helen and I met a couple of times to talk about it and somebody went and said, ‘Oh they’re talking about it, it’s going to be rebooted’ but that was a little premature. I don’t know that we’re gonna do it.”

Over the course of its run, the series won several awards including multiple Golden Globe and Emmy Awards for Hunt.

“We were so happy with the way it ended. We did it perfectly well, so when you go back you just want to make sure you do it right and for the right reasons,” he says. “So that’s what we’re discussing.”

He adds, “We’ll tell you as soon as we decide.”
