It seems as though, from the moment “Friends” ended in 2004, fans have been clamouring for a reunion. Unfortunately, that isn’t happening anytime soon, despite a convincing movie trailer that recently went viral.

The three-minute video, titled “The One With The Reunion,” appeared on YouTube last week and currently has over three million views.

It was uploaded to the channel Smasher, which cleverly edits together teaser trailer concepts for hypothetical movies.

The “Friends” clip uses various footage of the cast’s acting roles since leaving the popular sitcom, including scenes from the comedy “Episodes,” where Matt LeBlanc plays a fictional version of himself.

In this fake “Friends” reunion, Monica and Chandler are getting a divorce, Phoebe is seemingly a doctor of some sort, and Rachel is having a baby. Not to forget that Joey is now an award-winning actor.

“After years apart… Friends reunite,” the advert promises.

The trailer was so well put together that many fans were fooled into thinking it was real.

Sadly, a spoof reunion is probably the best “Friends” fanatics can wish for, as hopes of a comeback have been dashed countless times over the past few years.

In 2016, Marta Kauffman, co-creator of “Friends,” told E! News: “There will never be a ‘Friends’ reunion movie… Friends was about that time in your life when your friends are your family and once you have a family, there’s no need anymore.”

Similarly, last year, Jennifer Aniston told the Huffington Post that a revival would be hard to pull off in a modern, technologically advanced world.

“We were jokingly saying that if ‘Friends’ was created today, you would have a coffee shop full of people that were just staring into iPhones,” the actress joked. “There would be no actual episodes or conversations.”

Until the next hoax, fans are just going to have to keep hoping.
