Katy Perry was on the streets of Hollywood on Monday in order to induct Minnie Mouse into the Hollywood Walk of Fame, with the beloved Disney character finally getting her own star on the celeb-studded streets.

Nearly two weeks ago, Perry, 33, revealed that she would be honouring Minnie at the induction ceremony, admitting, “It will be a childhood and grown adult dream come true.”

During the ceremony, Minnie was accompanied by her longtime companion Mickey Mouse, who received his Walk of Fame star way back in 1978.

“Seeing Minnie is like returning home,” noted Perry, wearing her own version of Minnie’s iconic polka-dot dress while introducing the cartoon mouse. “It is a special skill to bring joy to so many — and she does it with an effortless bat of a lash, don’t you girl?”

Perry, however, couldn’t resist pointing out how much longer it’s taken for Minnie to get her star, and took a teeny shot at the Hollywood Walk of Fame in her speech.

“So today — a brief 40 years after Mickey got his star — I’m delighted to honour Minnie and her magic with hers.”

Minnie Mouse made her first appearance in 1928’s “Steamboat Willie”, and has appeared in more than 70 animated films. Her star is the 2,627th to grace the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

You can watch the ceremony in its entirety in the video below; Perry’s remarks come shortly after the 33:00 mark.
