Social media users took to Twitter Tuesday to share their excitement as the 2018 Oscar nominations were announced. However, the majority seemed to be more interested in commenting on host Tiffany Haddish as she hilariously tried, and failed, to read out many of the actors’ names.
Haddish, 38, was clearly having a ball as she joined Andy Serkis, 53, to read out the 90th Academy Awards nominees. However, she got a mixed response online as some social media users criticized her for not practising the names before she went live in front of millions.
One name the comedian struggled with in particular was Daniel Kaluuya, who is up for the Best Actor award for his role in “Get Out”.
Despite Haddish also not being able to say Michael H. Weber’s name, he made sure to take to Twitter to insist she could say his name any way she wants. The screenwriter is up for the Best Adapted Screenplay award for his work on “The Disaster Artist”.

Despite some of the negative comments however, others insisted Haddish did a fantastic job and that it was nice to see her up there having fun while doing the honours.

Tuesday saw Guillermo del Toro’s film “The Shape of Water” top this year’s Oscar nominations, receiving an impressive 13 nods, including one for Best Picture.
“Dunkirk” followed with eight noms, while “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” received seven.
Jimmy Kimmel will return to host this year’s ceremony, which is set to take place on March 4, 2018, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
