In a recent CBC article, Trudeau’s method of being kind and polite to hecklers was noted as having been developed as a strategy by none other than Jerry Seinfeld.

The comedian’s method, which he described in a Reddit AMA, involves reaching out to the heckler with kindness and patience and even offering to help them with their problem.

“Very early on in my career, I hit upon this idea of being the Heckle Therapist,” Seinfeld explains. “So that when people would say something nasty I would immediately become very sympathetic to them, and try to help them with their problem, and try to work out what was upsetting them, and try to be very understanding with their anger. It opened up this whole fun avenue for me as a comedian, and no one had ever seen that before.”

Seinfeld himself noticed the article and tweeted about it, joking that the Prime Minister might also want to try another method popularized by President Donald Trump.
