The new Doctor, Jodie Whittaker, has travelled to a time on Earth where she gets equal pay to her male predecessors.

Whittaker, an actress known for her roles in “Broadchurch” and “Black Mirror”, made her “Doctor Who” debut in the 2017 Christmas Day special.

Succeeding actor Peter Capaldi as the show’s lead, questions circled over how much Whittaker would make per episode compared to Capaldi. Rest assured, there is no wage gap.

Whittaker confirmed she will make the same amount as the former Doctor at Tuesday night’s National Television Awards in London. “It’s an incredibly important time and the notion [of equal pay] should be supported,” said the actress. “It’s a bit of a shock that it’s a surprise to everyone that it should be supported!”

The news comes at a time where the show’s parent company, BBC, has been under scrutiny over pay disparity between men and women. In July, it was revealed two-thirds of on-air talent earning over $250,000 were men, with all top seven highest-earners also being male.

“Doctor Who” will officially move forward with Whittaker in the lead role when the show’s 11th series premieres later this year.
