Meghan Trainor got an extra special birthday surprise last month when her other half Daryl Sabara proposed, and she’s now spoken out about the moment he popped the question.
The 24-year-old appeared on Wednesday’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and was quizzed by the talkshow host about the man in her life.
Sabara, 25, who is known for playing Juni Cortez in “Spy Kids,” got down on one knee during the couple’s visit to the Living Desert Zoo & Gardens in Palm Springs, California. The venue was lit up as part of its WildLights holiday lights tradition.
Trainor gushed of the proposal: “It was so cute… I’m so happy! I was trying to Snapchat and he told me, ‘Can you put that away for a second?’ I lost my voice. I was screaming, ‘It’s happening, yes, it’s happening!’”
The singer then jokingly added, “I blacked out.”

I SAID YESSSS!!!! For my 24th birthday, the love of my life @darylsabara made all of my dreams come true. He proposed to me under a tunnel of beautiful Christmas lights and surprised me with my family and friends. I’m still in shock. I’ve never been this happy! Thank you Daryl, my family and friends for making me feel like a real princess 👸🏼💍😭💗 and thank you @ryan.trainor for this amazing video that I’m gonna watch over and over again ❤️
Despite it only just being a month since Sabara popped the question, Trainor admitted the pair had already sorted a ring.
The musician shared, “We picked out the ring months before, I was just waiting for him to propose. I told him if you’re going to propose, to have my family there.”
Trainor and Sabara made their romance public in October 2016 after being set up by actress Chloe Grace Moretz, who is dating Brooklyn Beckham.
