Alexander Skarsgard turned heads at last night’s premiere of his latest film, Diary of Teenage Girl, when the six-foot-four actor arrived on the red carpet in full drag, boasting a sparkling golden gown and fluffy blonde wig that that wouldn’t have been out of place in 1970s Nashville.
Posing with co-star Bel Powley and director Marielle Heller, Skarsgard also wore high heels, which added a few more inches to his imposing height.
According to the U.K.’s Daily Mail, “it wasn’t immediately clear why the star had decided to switch genders for the night,”; although he may have been paying homage to his co-star Joshua Grannell (a drag performer better known as Peaches Christ) who plays a cross-dresser in Diary of a Teenage Girl.
