Now that Netflix has decided to cancel Chelsea Handler’s streaming talk show, the former “Chelsea Lately” host has decided she’s not going to jump into another show-biz project right away, and will instead devote the next year to helping female political candidates get elected throughout the U.S.

“I’m taking the year to myself,” Handler told Jimmy Fallon during her Friday appearance on “The Tonight Show”.

“I want to help get women elected. I want to do important stuff,” she added. “You guys have to go to EmilysList.org and look up the candidates that are running because these are incredible progressive women and we need more women in politics, so I’m really passionate about that.”

Given Handler’s commitment to politics, Fallon wondered if she ever could ever see herself running for office.

“No, I can’t get by on that salary,” she joked, adding: “I’m not informed enough in that regard to run for office. I would never.”
