Octavia Spencer may not appear in Marvel’s upcoming “Black Panther”, but she’s planning to send a powerful message with the film.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, the Oscar-winning actress revealed plans to rent out an entire theatre in Mississippi to host a screening of “Black Panther”, and explained why.
This isn’t the first time Spencer, 45, has done something similar. Just over a year ago, she bought out an entire theatre in Los Angeles throughout the Martin Luther King Jr. Day long weekend so that those who otherwise couldn’t afford it could take in a showing of “Hidden Figures”.
Tomorrow I've bought the 8pm showing of #hiddenfigures the rave Baldwin hills. If you know a family in need that would like to see our movie but can't afford it have them come. It's first come first served. My mom would not have been able to afford to take me and my siblings. So, I'm honoring her and all single parents this #mlkweekend Pass the word. Artwork by @bystellablu
