After building a successful beauty brand, Kim Kardashian may be turning her sights towards designing home decor.
In an interview with Architectural Digest, the 37-year-old beauty mogul and reality television star shares her love of home furnishings, which extends all the way to her newborn daughter Chicago West’s neutral-coloured baby room.
“I’m pretty much using the same crib and everything that I had for our other children,” Kardashian explains. “We have a Vetro Lucite crib and we have a Royere bed in there and a really fluffy cream rug.”
She adds, “I have a glider with an ottoman for feeding. With the first baby, I had a rocking chair, and I just love a glider so much more—you can move easier. Everything in the house is light colours and woods and soft and natural colours.”
But with her new house designed in mostly light colours by minimalist Belgian designer Axel Vervoordt and three young children, Kardashian says she’s had to learn to take a step back when it comes to cleaning up after her kids.
“One time I walked in and my daughter [North West] had purple nail polish all over her little kid’s vanity, all over her toys and all over the walls,” she recalls. “You do have to just take a deep breath and say, ‘Okay, it’s going to happen.'”
For her next venture, the mobile app creator says she wouldn’t mind designing home decor. “I’m obsessed with decor these days,” she says. “I feel like I’ve learned so much about architecture, about design, about furniture in the last, like, two years and it’s like my passion right now.”
Kardashian reveals that even her husband, Kanye West, has taken a liking to furniture design. “My husband makes all of his own furniture in his office,” she reveals. “Kanye is so good at it, he loves to draw out pieces. Axel made a couch in our house called the ‘Kanye couch’ because Kanye designed it with him.”
