Christopher Walken’s character is among the attendees of cancer patient group therapy alongside Kate McKinnon and others in the Netflix movie “Irreplaceable You”. The streaming giant released the official trailer on Friday.
The film is helmed by female director Stephanie Laing, female screenwriter Bess Wohl, female cinematographer Magdalena Gorka, and lead actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw.
The female-dominated direction is a gameplan that worked well for Netflix’s “Mudbound”, which earned three Oscar nominations.
“The lives of two best friends and romantic soulmates come crashing down when one is given a terminal cancer diagnosis,” reads a synopsis of the movie.
“Irreplaceable You” focuses equally on the ups-and-downs of life with cancer, with one character noting “All the ‘what ifs,’ you’re missing out on the ‘what is.'”
The upcoming drama movie premieres globally on the streaming service on Feb. 16.
