Paul Rudd has been named 2018’s Hasty Pudding Man of the Year, receiving the tongue-in-cheek honour bestowed annually by Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals, known for its cross-dressing, burlesque-style performances.
Following tradition, the ceremony was more of a roast than an honour, with students taking shots at some of Rudd’s less auspicious movies. As the Boston Globe reports, roasters honed in on Rudd’s likeable “dad face,” his past as a bar mitzvah DJ and his role as Marvel’s tiniest superhero in “Ant Man”.
In order to earn his Pudding Pot award, however, the 48-year-old actor had to complete a number of tasks, notes a Hasty Pudding press release, “as punishment for the alleged deal he made with the Grim Reaper to not age since 1995.”
Among the tasks: proving his merits as one of Marvel’s Avengers; doing several line readings — including an impression of former Man of the Year Robert De Niro; and “showing that he had what it takes to be a Sex Panther in a nod to ‘Anchorman’.’
