Eric Johnson is swapping dreams of Christian Grey’s red room for a new red ‘do.
“I’ve always wanted to do ‘Vikings’,” the 38-year-old actor shares. “I was hoping that I’d get to come out here and play and it’s more than living up to my expectations.”
The actor, who hails from Edmonton, speaks exclusively to ET Canada on the set of History’s hit show for a quick introduction to his mysterious new character.
“What I can tell you is that he comes in, Bjorn finds himself in a bit of a compromised situation and I come out of nowhere and help him avoid some pretty dire consequences,” he says.
Billed as “a formidable warrior who is an outlaw living on his wits and martial arts skills,” by the production, Johnson shares some insight on his character in the “Vikings” world.
“To be able to come in here and play an iconic Viking,” the actor says of his character’s loose connections to Erik the Red “is a dream come true. He has a little bit of a different fighting style and he’s a little stealthier.”
His new character will be under wraps until season 6 is ready to be released, but Johnson has given fans a little sneak peek at his new gig, showcasing some of those possible new skills on Instagram.
You can see Johnson reprise his role of Jack Hyde in “Fifty Shades Freed”, hitting theatres Feb. 9. And for the latest on “Vikings” watch Clive Standen talk about Rollo’s surprise return below.
