Justin Timberlake’s Selfie Kid On Being The Talk Of The Super Bowl: ‘This Is Insane’

There’s usually someone or something that gets everybody talking during the Super Bowl and this year, that someone was 13-year-old Ryan McKenna who managed to grab a selfie mid-performance with Justin Timberlake.

Timberlake, 37, took to the stage for the eagerly anticipated halftime performance and went up into the crowd to belt out “Can’t Stop The Feeling”.

The singer, who came under fire for paying tribute to Prince during the show, then stopped beside the teenager, who sparked an online frenzy because he seemed more interested in his phone than standing next to the pop superstar.

Appearing on Monday’s “Good Morning America”, McKenna explained when asked about the much-talked-about moment: “I know it was crazy.”

He then explained why he kept his gaze firmly on his phone during Timberlake’s performance: “I had a video going and my phone shut off, that’s why I was on my phone. I love him, he’s my favourite singer so that’s why I wanted to get a selfie with him.”
