NBC’s six-month suspension of Brian Williams has ended, but the disgraced ex-NBC Nightly News anchor isn’t expected back on the air until mid-September — and it won’t be on NBC.

Following Williams’ being caught in a lie about his experiences while covering the Iraq war — and a subsequent not-quite-an-apology that managed to worsen the situation, followed by an apologetic appearance on The Today Show — NBC brass yanked Williams off the air on February 11. He was later slapped with a six-month suspension.

In June, NBC News chairman Andrew Lack reassigned Williams to NBC Universal-owned MSNBC to be the struggling cable news channel’s “breaking news anchor.”; According to The New York Daily News, he’s expected to begin his new MSNBC gig in September.

Details about what exactly Williams’ upcoming job will entail are a bit hazy, and it’s not known whether he’ll reappear on the NBC network in any capacity (following Williams’ suspension, Williams was axed from his role anchoring NBC Nightly News, with Lester Holt named the newscast’s permanent anchor).

A rep for NBC News has not responded to The Daily News’ request for comment.
