Jim Carrey is boycotting Facebook and encouraging others to join him in the name of the future.
The Ontario-born actor told fans on Twitter he was dumping his Facebook stocks and deleting his Facebook page because of how the social media company “profited from Russian interference in our [2016 U.S.] election.”
“I’m dumping my Facebook stock and deleting my page because Facebook profited from Russian interference in our elections and they’re still not doing enough to stop it,” said Carrey. “I encourage all other investors who care about our future to do the same.”
Facebook previously admitted up to 126 million people saw Russian-bought ads intended to sway the outcome of the U.S. election. The social media company also confessed to how its algorithms recommended content created by Russian operatives.
