“Tomb Raider” star Alicia Vikander gushes over husband Michael Fassbender in the March 2018 issue of Vogue.
Vikander, 29, and Fassbender, 40, tied the knot in a private ceremony in Ibiza, Spain, on Oct. 14 after dating for three years. The two kept their wedding on the down low and the actress tells Vogue, “It’s not about being secretive. It’s just about choosing the few things that you keep private.”
Opening up about her marriage, Vikander admits, “I feel I’m more happy and content than I’ve ever been… The happy-and-content thing, that’s talking about my private life.”
The Oscar-winning “The Danish Girl” actress also talks about working with her at-the-time fiance in 2016’s romantic period-drama “The Light Between Oceans”.
“I think he’s one of the absolute best actors I’ve worked with,” she praises. “Of course, he’d done more films than me, but immediately when we started to work together he was so open to wanting me to chip in new ideas and thoughts.
“He would be like, ‘I’m stuck; what should I do?’ and I would say, ‘You’re asking me?’ That was such a sweet thing… Life is about a lot more than work, but if it’s also your biggest passion, of course, it’s something you enjoy talking about.”
Vikander also shares a story about the power of women, particularly how co-star Julianne Moore stood up for her on the set of “Seventh Son” in 2014.
“I was really embarrassed [by a joke made by a man], and I would have just laughed it off,” explains Vikander. “But Julianne turned to him and said, ‘If you ever do that again, I’m walking out of here and I’m not coming back.’ She was just, like, Don’t you f*cking say that again. It showed me that she had the power. And that meant so much to me.”
Vikander will next star as Lara Croft in 2018’s live-action “Tomb Raider” remake.
