A new trailer for the upcoming Marvel movie “Venom” has finally been unveiled ahead of the film’s October release date.
Tom Hardy takes on the lead role of anti-hero Eddie Brock in the latest teaser for the upcoming “Spider-Man” spinoff. Eddie is a journalist whose body gets taken over by an alien symbiote to become the villain Venom, who has been one of Spider-Man’s most popular characters since his debut in 1988.
Hardy’s character can be heard saying in the explosive trailer: “You used to be one thing, now you’re something else.”
The teaser also shows Eddie screaming in pain while lying down on a hospital bed in some sort of testing facility.
“We all have our own problems, our own issues, our own demons,” Hardy’s voiceover adds.
The actor stars alongside Woody Harrelson, Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams, and Jenny Slate in the movie, which is directed by Ruben Fleischer.
Fleischer recently said of the flick: “I can promise you badass action, Venom’s dark humour, and I can also promise you an absolutely stunning performance by Tom Hardy.”
The “Venom” standalone film will be the second time the character has appeared on screen in recent years. In 2007, he was portrayed by Topher Grace in “Spider-Man 3”.
Not everyone was stoked after the trailer came out though, see the Twitter reaction below.
